Rizieq Shihab Send a Message to Prabowo Towards the Presidential Candidate Debate
Indonesia Faktual. The leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab called on Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno to calm down before facing the 2019 prime presidential debate.
The message was conveyed through a spokesman for the DPP Islamic Defenders Front who was also Chair of the 212 Alumni Brotherhood Slamet Maarif.
"The message remains calm and consultation with pre-debate scholars," said Slamet, Thursday (1/17).
Slamet said there was no special message from Rizieq to Prabowo and Sandi. According to him, Rizieq was convinced that Prabowo and Sandi had experience and were able to master the debate stage. Just need calm to not be awkward.
Slamet said Rizieq would also watch the presidential debate tonight. Even so, he was not sure whether Rizieq would watch with the guests at his house or not.
"Well, that doesn't know," said Slamet.
The National Winning Body (BPN) Prabowo-Sandi instructed its members in a number of regions to stop watching the presidential debate. Candidates and cadres of bearer political parties are also expected to participate in holding a similar event with local residents.
Slamet agrees that FPI and PA 212 support Prabowo-Sandi in the 2019 Presidential Election in accordance with the results of Ijtima Ulama II. However, there was no specific instruction from Rizieq so that FPI sympathizers and cadres and PA 212 would hold a joint watch.
Slamet said FPI cadres and sympathizers and PA 212 only needed to watch the debate in their homes. Rizieq and the FPI DPP also did not issue instructions so that cadres watched the presidential debate.
"I have not been told to watch it myself," said Slamet.
The General Election Commission (KPU) held its first 2019 first presidential debate on this evening, Thursday (1/17). The presidential debate will begin at 8:00 p.m. and be broadcast live by TVRI, Kompas TV, Rajawali TV, and Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI).
The theme of the first presidential debate was law, human rights, corruption, and terrorism. In accordance with the mutual agreement, each candidate pair was sent a question by the KPU on January 10.
